Preparation of salts
• Describe a salt
• Classify salts according to their nature and solubility in water
• Demonstrate the preparation of an insoluble salt.
• Demonstrate the preparation soluble salts.
• Demonstrate the preparation of ammonium, potassium and sodium salts.
• Demonstrate the existence of hydrated salts and differentiate from anhydrous salts
• Describe the behaviour of salts with reference to the atmosphere. | Chemistry textbooks and charts on salt classification were utilized. Practical demonstrations for preparing soluble and insoluble salts, including filtration and titration methods, were performed using standard laboratory apparatus. | Strong learners quickly grasped salt definitions and solubility rules, performing well in practical demonstrations. Most pupils understood the preparation methods for soluble and insoluble salts but needed reinforcement on ammonium, potassium, and sodium salt specifics. A few struggled with differentiating hydrated from anhydrous salts and their atmospheric behaviour. | Targeted revision on salt types and atmospheric behaviour will be conducted. | |
